Busy time

We had kind of stormy weeks behind us. So we were not able to post last Thursday. Eva actually had her birthday. And it was our first anniversary of our marriage. So time to party a lot.

Flowery Scholls

Already some time ago we bougth via e-bay Pescura Scholls with yellow flowers on the footbed. In this post we like to share with you some pictures.

Back from holiday and white Scholls

In some way the UK people are offering and buying a lot via ebay and postage is relatively cheep. NL inland and Royal Mail surface to EU pricing is almost the same for packaged up to 1 kg (2 pounds)

To our suprise there was a pair of yellow Peggy type Scholl (2,5 inch heel), which might not sound very special to you, but the inner sole is painted with a yellow flower as well. The condition seems to be little use, so we decided to go for it.
We find bidding is sometimes difficult, although we have some idea about Scholl slippers prices. The other Scholl slippers we won by bids between 11 - 13 GBP. We went for a max bid of 12 GBP, almost 20 USD. Finally we won with 8,53 GBP, which was cheaper than the previous ones.

So Mike started so search for some pictures and information on the internet. He found that to the traditional kimono women often wear was is called GETA sandal. The original geta has stands both as heel and under the fore foot. So a almost flat shoe, however some 1-3 inches from the ground. One of the explanation for the stands is to avoid wet feet at rain and snow occasions.

These shoes were often used by Geisha's. However also many men did wear then in traditional Japan.
Quite difficult to walk on. In the restaurant the sole were flat, so more like flip flops. On Wikipedia the Japanese flip flops are called ZORI. The original zori sole is make of rice straw or other plant fiber, but these were mad of wood. So some kind of mixture between the two types.

The servants in the restaurant did wear sock as well, some kind of toe sock with only one toe. The socks do have a split between the big toe and the rest of the toes, in order to fit the stand.
